Amazfit flagship watches get HYROX auto-transition this October

Eight Amazfit flagships will stop requiring manual lap presses between HYROX stations after an over-the-air update due this month.

What you need to know

  • Eight Amazfit flagship watches will receive HYROX automatic transitions in October via a free OTA update.
  • The feature removes the need to press lap manually between every run segment and workout station during a HYROX race.
  • The roadmap, published 23 September 2026, also schedules Strava Live Segments for November and HYROX training plans for the Zepp App in October.

Every current Amazfit flagship watch is set to receive HYROX automatic transitions this October, according to a software roadmap published by Zepp Health on 23 September 2026. The over-the-air update will land free of charge on eight watches and, for the first time, spare HYROX competitors the hassle of pressing lap manually between every running segment and workout station during a race.

Amazfit's October OTA will remove the need to press lap manually at every HYROX station — a free upgrade for existing flagship owners.

Which watches are getting it — and when

The October automatic-transition update covers the Active 3 Premium, Balance 3, Balance Ultra, Cheetah 2 Pro, Cheetah 2 Ultra, T-Rex 3, T-Rex 3 Pro, and T-Rex Ultra 2. UK prices on the official Amazfit store currently range from £279 for the T-Rex 3 through to £599.90 for the Balance Ultra, with the Cheetah 2 Pro at £449.90, the T-Rex 3 Pro at £399.90, the Balance 3 from £369.90, and the T-Rex Ultra 2 at £549. A UK retail price for the Cheetah 2 Ultra has not been confirmed.

The roadmap sets out a three-month drumbeat of feature additions for these flagships. Rep counting across 15 strength exercises was scheduled for September. HYROX automatic transitions follow in October. Strava Live Segments are pencilled in for November. Owners of the Balance 2, Balance XT, and Active Max can expect auto-transition in November, with Bip Max following in December. The original Active 2, Bip 6, and the first-generation Balance are not listed for the feature at all.

What the update actually changes

At present, athletes racing HYROX on any major wearable platform must press lap by hand every time they move between a running segment and one of the eight functional fitness stations. That is a minor irritant during training but a meaningful problem in a race, where grip, focus, and timing all count. The October update promises to detect each transition automatically, removing that manual step entirely.

Zepp Health's roadmap does not specify the detection method, but changes in motion pattern — picked up by the watch's accelerometer and gyroscope — are the most likely mechanism. The exact OTA version number has not been confirmed ahead of release.

It is worth noting one standing limitation that the update does not address: GPS pace indoors remains unreliable, because satellite signal cannot penetrate a building. For UK athletes who race HYROX inside — which covers most domestic events — a Stryd footpod paired to the Cheetah 2 Pro, Cheetah 2 Ultra, T-Rex 3, or Active Max is the current workaround for accurate indoor pace data. Nothing on the October roadmap changes that picture.

What else arrives in October and November

The October update extends beyond the watches. The Helio Strap Pro — priced at £199.90 — gains auto-calibration in HYROX Race and Simulation modes, though not in Custom workouts. HYROX training plans also arrive inside the Zepp App this month. From November, the app will automatically match and track other HYROX races as they are added to an athlete's schedule.

Rep counting for 15 exercises is also on the October slate, though it is worth treating that particular promise with a degree of caution. Automatic rep counting at HYROX-specific stations has proved unreliable on every major wearable platform so far, and Zepp Health has not published accuracy data for its implementation ahead of launch.

How the partnership got here

Amazfit's growing HYROX integration is the product of a relationship that began in August 2024, when Zepp Health signed an initial two-year agreement making Amazfit the official wearable and timekeeping partner of HYROX. In April 2026, that deal was expanded into a three-year global partnership, with Amazfit holding exclusive status as the official supplier in the smart wearable category.

Zepp Health CEO Wayne Huang said at the time: "We're excited to take this partnership with Hyrox to the next level. Hyrox has built strong momentum and is rapidly expanding as a global fitness community. This expanded partnership reflects a shared commitment to enhancing the experience of Hyrox athletes and participants through Amazfit's smart wearables and connected training technologies."

HYROX co-founder and CMO Moritz Fürste had previously described the direction of travel: "The sport of Hyrox is evolving rapidly, and the future of fitness racing is now intertwined with cutting-edge smartwear technology Amazfit. The upcoming development of a Hyrox race mode and integration within Hyrox365 will be a great aid for athletes and training clubs going forward."

The T-Rex 3 became the world's first smartwatch with a dedicated HYROX Race Mode. Firmware 6.3.25.7, released in early September 2026 for the T-Rex 3, T-Rex 3 Pro, and T-Rex Ultra 2, added deeper HYROX analysis, FTMS indoor cycling support, and navigation improvements — part of the steady software build-up ahead of the auto-transition launch. The Zepp 10 app update earlier this year also replaced BioCharge and Readiness metrics with HybridCharge, and introduced Training Focus alongside officially licensed HYROX tools.

The bigger picture for UK buyers

HYROX now supports more than 300,000 athletes per season across Europe and the United States, with significant UK participation in that number. Amazfit is the only wearable brand with an officially licensed HYROX integration — no other manufacturer currently offers the same depth of race-mode support. The auto-transition update requires no new hardware and no subscription, which means existing flagship owners benefit immediately when the OTA lands. For anyone already racing HYROX on an Amazfit watch, October's update is the single most meaningful software improvement the platform has delivered to date.

Why it matters

For UK HYROX competitors, automatic transitions are a genuine quality-of-life win — mid-race, with hands chalked and lungs burning, fumbling for a watch button is the last thing anyone wants. The update arrives free for existing owners, which means a £279 T-Rex 3 gains the same race-day convenience as a £549 T-Rex Ultra 2 without any additional outlay. Amazfit is currently the only wearable brand with an officially licensed HYROX integration, and this update solidifies that advantage ahead of the winter race season.
