Garmin MARQ Gen 3: Six Luxury Smartwatches From £2,199
Garmin has launched its third-generation MARQ collection with LTE calling, satellite messaging, and a bigger AMOLED screen — but prices start £300 higher than the outgoing model.
What you need to know
- Six models — Athlete, Adventurer, Golfer, Aviator, Commander, Diver — priced from £2,199 to £2,699 in the UK, on sale globally from 5 November 2026
- Every model now includes inReach LTE and satellite, allowing calls, messages, and SOS without a phone
- Storage quadruples from 32GB to 128GB and the AMOLED display grows from 1.2 to 1.4 inches versus Gen 2
Garmin officially launched the MARQ Gen 3 on 13 October 2026, confirming a six-watch luxury collection with LTE calling, satellite messaging, and a substantially upgraded display. The watches go on global sale on 5 November 2026, with UK prices running from £2,199 to £2,699 — a significant step up from the £1,900-equivalent entry point of the 2022 Gen 2.

Six models, one size, one big price jump
All six watches share a 47mm Grade-5 titanium case, sapphire crystal lens, ceramic bezel inlays, and a 1.4-inch AMOLED display at 454×454 resolution rated to 3,000 nits. Every model is 15mm thick, water-resistant to 10 ATM, and carries 128GB of onboard storage — four times the 32GB found in Gen 2. Battery life is rated at up to 18 days in smartwatch mode, or seven days with the always-on display active.
The six editions and their confirmed UK prices are:
- MARQ Athlete – £2,199 — silicone rubber strap; ceramic bezel with VO2 max indicator
- MARQ Adventurer – £2,399 — full-grain Italian leather and rubber strap; 360-degree compass bezel
- MARQ Golfer – £2,499 — jacquard-woven strap; ceramic bezel with 18-hole indicator; adds aerial imagery, green reading, putting analysis, and scramble mode
- MARQ Aviator – £2,699 — padded calfskin bracelet with titanium deployment clasp; polished black ceramic bezel with UTC markings; full aviation suite
- MARQ Commander – £2,699 — camo jacquard nylon strap; matte black ceramic bezel; adds Applied Ballistics Elite, night vision mode, stealth mode, and a kill switch
- MARQ Diver – £2,699 — rubber microadjust bracelet; replaces the Gen 2 Captain; adds DiveView maps, Dive Readiness, NDL Aware, Gauge mode, and a 60-minute dive timer
UK pricing is confirmed via Wareable's hands-on review and corroborated by gagadget.com. Garmin's own UK site had not listed prices at the time of the initial announcement.
The headline upgrade: calling and SOS without your phone
The biggest generational leap in the MARQ Gen 3 is built-in Garmin inReach, present on every model. The watches can make voice calls over LTE and send messages or SOS signals over LTE or satellite — no phone required. Satellite covers messaging and SOS but does not support voice calls; LTE is needed for that, and coverage is not available in every region. Satellite messaging is said to cover most of Europe and North America.
After a 30-day free trial, the inReach service costs from $9.99 a month for unlimited LTE use and emergency-only satellite, with satellite messages and check-ins on higher-tier plans. UK-specific plan pricing in pounds had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
Alongside inReach, the Gen 3 gains features entirely absent from its predecessor: a speaker and microphone, an LED flashlight, and an ECG app capable of detecting signs of atrial fibrillation. The ECG function is for adults aged 22 and over and is not available in every region.
All six models also support single-gas scuba, apnea, and snorkelling to 40 metres. The Diver edition goes further with Garmin's full Descent dive toolkit, though it does not support the wireless air integration found on Garmin's Descent Mk series.
How it compares to Gen 2
The MARQ Gen 2 launched on 11 October 2022 — almost exactly four years ago — on the Epix Gen 2 platform, with five models priced from $1,900 to $2,400. Gen 3 moves to the Fenix 9 platform, which brings the expanded software suite but also, according to Garmin Rumors, an existing log of 123 reported Fenix 9 bugs that buyers at this price point will reasonably expect to be resolved before the first Gen 3 unit ships.
Garmin has acknowledged the price increase is not ideal, citing the broader pricing pressures across the tech industry and pointing to the expanded 128GB storage as a contributing factor, according to coverage by gagadget.com. The entry price rises by approximately $600 over Gen 2.
One practical note flagged by DC Rainmaker: the Gen 3 charging cable is not compatible with Gen 2, so existing MARQ owners upgrading will need to factor that in.
When can UK buyers get one?
Pre-orders are open now, but shipping timelines are long. The Athlete, Adventurer, and Diver are quoted at five to eight weeks; the Golfer, Aviator, and Commander at eight to twelve weeks. Anyone ordering the Golfer or Commander today could be waiting until well into January 2027. The collection comes in one size only — 47mm — with no smaller option available.
Global sales open on 5 November 2026.
Why it matters
For UK buyers, the headline upgrade is genuine independence from a smartphone — the ability to make voice calls over LTE and send SOS signals via satellite is a meaningful step forward for serious athletes and outdoor adventurers. The catch is that these features require an ongoing inReach subscription after a 30-day free trial, and UK plan pricing in pounds has not yet been confirmed. Add shipping waits of up to 12 weeks and a starting price £300 higher than the previous generation, and this is a purchase that rewards patience and a healthy bank balance in equal measure.
